Biography

Drawing influences from a wide spectrum post of 60’s artists these boys have put a 28k punch right in the chops of the northern music scene. Happy Mondays are not Blue Mondays in the New Order of Zoo in Flames’ musical effigy and from their psychedelic guitar riffs to their triumphant crescendos of crashing drums and emphatic piano strains; they are a rolling wall of post Brit-rock that bombards the senses to deliver what is surely the bastard child of Black Sabbath and The Who on amphetamine sulphate.

The unforgiving dream of lead singer Jamie Giles, Zoo in Flames was formed off the back of uncompromising circumstance. It was Dave and Foxy who ignited the fire that would soon become this five-piece prophecy from West Yorkshire, laying down tracks in Dave’s bedroom studio with just a laptop and Foxy’s prized Gibson SG.

The voice of Jamie was added at a later date and after perfecting these early tracks, the need for fuel on this already roaring fire was required. In the form of Tom on the drums and Andy on the bass, the Zoo in Flames planets became aligned and at a practice studio just outside the city centre, five men meet, shook hands and plugged in their instruments. Over a year and half later and Zoo in Flames are a contemporary new wave rock band that would give even Liam Gallagher something to shake his tambourine at. Building on the sounds of the likes of the Stone Roses, Madchester won’t know what’s hit it!
